During our visit to Chennai on 22nd October, we booked two rooms at the UPAR Hotel ECR Uthandi for a two-day stay. The hotel is located in a nice area close to restaurants and beaches. However, we had a few unpleasant experiences during our stay. The breakfast was served too late at around 9:45 AM, which was difficult for our senior family members to manage. We also found a few cockroaches next to the bed, the AC was leaking, and when we asked for bath towels, we were told that there was no laundry service that day. They charged 560 rupees for an extra bed but did not provide it or issue a refund. The staff claims that it's not their mistake and ignores the issue. Despite these issues, the hotel itself was good. it was a pleasant stay.

I had the worst experience, there was no phone in the room, no towels, no way to call reception, each time we had to go down and ask. We had also paid 200 for breakfast while booking the room and they had given us store bought packeted idly which wouldn’t have costed 100 rupees. The worst of all was , they were clearing some waste right adjacent to the room and entire night we couldn’t sleep because of the smell. Even if you take this hotel ,please don’t take the 3rd floor( the last floor) which was where we stayed and it was pathetic

Budget friendly rooms for short stay. Few minutes away from the beach, have cafes, theatre nearby. Good service, clean rooms. Hassle free check in and check out. Safe parking of vehicles. Overall a good stay.

As mentioned everyone were mentioning it was good and all can’t disagree on that it’s one the hotel in that area which cost you less but I wasn’t completely satisfied. I didn’t like how the bed sheets looked . Didn’t give toiletries which was basic , had to demand towels and only after that it was given . The hand shower was broken and the Basin as well .. the bed wasn’t that comfortable as well .. you have all other basics like the kettle , a wardrobe and all but still could have done better with restrooms and specially with the sheets of the bed

Only 1 budget friendly hotel. But, better to do room maintenance. There were small cockroaches in the room. Windows are dirty if you look behind the bed. Otherwise ok, just to stay at night. Not to relax in the room.
