All visitors, except native residents and government officials on duty, must obtain a permit to enter Lakshadweep, which applies to both Indian citizens and foreign tourists. Tourists can explore five islands: Kavaratti, Agatti, Bangaram, Kadmat, and Minicoy.

One can visit the ePermit portal online, download the application form from the Lakshadweep Administration website, or obtain it from the District Collector's office in Kavaratti to apply for the permit.

How to reach the Lakshadweep Islands?

As per the official Lakshadweep website, access to Lakshadweep Island is facilitated through ships and flights departing from Kochi. Kochi serves as the primary gateway for all tourist travel to Lakshadweep.

Agatti and Bangaram islands can be reached via flights originating from Kochi, with Indian Airlines operating these flights. Direct flights from Kochi are available to numerous airports in India and abroad. Agatti has its own airstrip, and boats operate from Agatti to Kavaratti and Kadmat. The flight duration from Cochin to Agatti is approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

For sea travel, seven-passenger ships operate between Cochin and Lakshadweep islands. The duration of the journey varies between 14 and 18 hours, depending on the chosen island for the voyage.
